The No.24 raked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team headed into their contest against the No.11 ranked Auburn Tigers in the middle of playing their worst baseball of the season, having lost their last four games, and that streak was extended to five after a 1-0 loss to the Tigers.
The Yellow Jackets would start Jaylon Paden on the mound, but he would not last long in the contest, as he would only pitch 1.2 innings, but not before walking five batters, including walking in the only run after he walked Tigers first baseman Cooper McMurray to give him his fourth walk of the inning. Brett Barfield, Carson Ballard, Kayden Campbell, and Connor Chicoli would all come into the game to finish it out, with Ballard pitching the most innings, with three. Paden is credited for the loss for the game.
The offense for the Yellow Jackets continued their recent slip, as the team would not get a hit until third baseman Carson Kerce would hit a single in the fifth inning, and centerfielder Drew Burress would hit a single in the sixth inning. Those two hits would be the only hits that the Yellow Jackets would be able to muster out for the entire game.
The Yellow Jackets have a huge series this weekend, as they host the Virginia Cavaliers in what will be a huge matchup for the Yellow Jackets, as their prominence in the polls is something that is quickly sliding downhill during their five game losing streak.
