The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team entered their midweek matchup against the Kennesaw State Owls a little more excited than they normally would, because this would be the first time this season that they would play a game where they were ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25.
The Yellow Jackets would waste no time getting on the board, as Caleb Daniel would hit a home run in the top of the first inning to put the Yellow Jackets up 1-0. The next inning, the Yellow Jackets would put up three runs, thanks to a single by Parker Brosius and a double by Kyle Lodise. The big inning for the Yellow Jackets came in the sixth, when they would score a total of nine runs and bat through the batting order, with four players getting a second at-bat in the inning. Heading into the top of the seventh, the Yellow Jackets needed just one run to run rule the Owls, and they got that run thanks to a sacrifice fly by Drew Rogers.
Sam Swygert would make his ninth start of the season in what would turn out to be a bullpen game for the Yellow Jackets, as a total of five pitchers would check in for the team. Carson Ballard would pitch the most, lasting 3.2 innings, and getting credited with the win.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action this weekend, as they take on the Clemson Tigers in what should be the first highly-touted ACC series so far this season.
