The D1 Baseball All-American list includes some of the biggest names in college baseball, such as Texas A&M outfielder Jackets Laviolette, Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella, and LSU first baseman Jared Jones. One name that made this list is none other than Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets outfielder Drew Burress.
It comes as no surprise to Yellow Jackets fans that the sophomore made the team, as he put together not only one of the greatest freshman season that the program has seen, but it could very well be the best season that anyone has ever had with the Yellow Jackets.
In his freshman season, Burress led the team in batting average (.381), home runs (25), and RBI (67). Burress also led all freshmen in the nation in 11 categories last season.
His contributions wouldn't go unnoticed, as he was award both the ACC Freshman of the Year award and the National Freshman of the Year award last season.
In total, the list has six of the 10 hitter/fielder spots on the First Team All American team are representing ACC teams. Of all ten selections, Burress has the highest career batting average of any player to make the First Team, and is one of two sophomores on the hitting/fielding team, joining Miami third baseman Daniel Cuvet.
Burress will have the weight of the team on his shoulders for the 2025 season for the Yellow Jackets, as he will be looked at as by far the best player on the team, and possibly the best player in the entire country throughout the season.
