With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets set to face off against the Clemson Tigers at 1pm today, the question remains who will be the start for the Yellow Jackets on the mound, and it is one question that could mean a huge swing in how the Yellow Jackets are seeded in the NCAA College Baseball National Tournament. So let’s take a look at who I think starts for the Yellow Jackets today.
If we go by how the Yellow Jackets pitching rotation has gone this season, our day two starter- and who I think will ultimately get the nod today- is none other than freshman Brady Jacobs.
Jacobs has been on a tear in his recent starts, but perhaps none were bigger than the last two times that Yellow Jackets fans have seen Jacobs in action.
In his start against the Louisville Cardinals on May 1, Jones had the best outing that any pitcher has had for the Yellow Jackets, pitching a complete game and allowing just one hit to the Cardinals.
In his start against the Duke Blue Devils, Jones would be a vital part of the ACC regular season champion-clinching game, as he would pitch five innings, allowing only four hits and two runs.
Jones was also the only pitcher to pick up a win against the Tigers from their weekend series earlier this season, when he pitched five innings and held the Tigers to just three hits and allowed one run in an 18-2 Yellow Jackets win.
