College football coaching rumors are nothing new. Every fall, the same stories start to swirl. Who’s getting fired, who’s getting hired, and who’s next on the move.

This week, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko gave his take on the topic. He laughed off reports linking him to the Penn State job, saying, “I think it’s absolutely hilarious how (the media) covers coaches. I think three weeks ago, I was getting fired; now, I’m getting hired.”

That kind of chaos is something Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key knows all too well. Over the past few weeks, Key’s name has surfaced in several national coaching rumor mills — from Florida to Florida State, and even Penn State. But through it all, Key has stayed focused on one thing: Georgia Tech football.

Since taking over in Atlanta, Key has built a culture rooted in consistency and belief. His message to players has been clear. Block out the noise and control what you can control. That same mindset seems to guide him off the field as well.

While the coaching carousel spins faster each week, Georgia Tech fans can take comfort in Key’s approach. He’s shown no interest in distractions or headlines. Instead, his focus stays on the Jackets’ continued rise, and that might be the biggest reason he’s not going anywhere soon.

Under Key, Tech has rediscovered its edge. The wins are piling up, the confidence is growing, and the program’s stability stands out in a sport full of speculation.
