The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team will close out nonconference play today when they take on the Alabama A&M Aggies.

It has been a rough start to the season for the Yellow Jackets, who have been flirting with the .500 mark all season and currently sit at 5-7. In the month of December, the Yellow Jackets are 1-4, with three of those losses being to ranked teams, and their lone win being a 91-82 victory over the UMBC Retrievers.

The Yellow Jackets come into the game with 97.4 percent chance of winning, according to ESPN Analytics, so the game should be a runaway one for the Yellow Jackets that could see some playing time from players that usually aren’t in the rotation, such as freshman forward Darrion Sutton, and sophomore forward Emmer Nichols.

The game could also be a big one for senior guard Javian McCollum, who has been nursing back from a concussion suffered in the Yellow Jackets 81-58 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats on Nov. 23. McCollum started the first five games of the season before the injury, and in his three games back, has put up a total of 14 points combined.

As the Yellow Jackets look back at the nonconference schedule, a glaring need for a signature win was needed for the team, especially if they wanted to get into the NCAA Tournament later on in the season, and they just couldn’t pull one out in their nonconference schedule.

Tip off for the game is scheduled for 2pm Eastern.
