USA Baseball has now started their 2025 training, and it will feature 56 college baseball players that will get the opportunity to train with the USA Olympic Baseball team, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are well represented for the training, as three players will be on the field for the training games: outfielder Drew Burress, catcher Vahn Lackey, and outfielder Alex Hernandez.

It will be the second straight season that Burress will be featured at the event, while Lackey and Hernandez will be making their first appearance.

The invites come after all three players had prolific 2025 seasons.

Burress put together his second straight season with at least 20 doubles, while hitting 19 home runs and leading the Yellow Jackets in runs with 77. Burress has been selected to five All-American lists this offseason, one of only two players to do so, joining Florida State pitcher Jamie Arnold.

Lackey was named as a finalist for the Buster Posey Award, given each season to the top catcher in all of college baseball. Lackey finished second on the Yellow Jackets in batting average in 2025, sitting at .347, and tied Hernandez for the most hits on the team.

Hernandez became a rookie phenom after displaying his power hitting ability by hitting 16 home runs, the second most by any Yellow Jackets player this season and finishing with a .335 batting average. Hernandez put together one of the most prolific seasons in Yellow Jackets history in 2025, a year after fans did not think that Burress’ freshman season would be topped.
