The transfer portal is officially underway, and let the frenzy begin for some of the nation's highest-rated players and prospects looking to move on to bigger and better opportunities. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets linebacking core could some bolstering up after this season, so why not look into some of what the transfer portal has to offer? Here are three players the Yellow Jackets and head coach Brent Key should look at for that group next season.

1. Andrew Jones, Linebacker, Grambling State Tigers

Jones was a four-star recruit from Marrero, Louisiana in the 2021 recruiting class, choosing the Memphis Tigers, before transferring to the Grambling State Tigers the following season. He didn't see much playing time in his first two seasons, but is coming off a breakout season for the Tigers in which he garnered 111 tackles and three sacks. The pairing of Jones with Yellow Jackets linebacker Kyle Efford could be one of the best duos at the position in the entire ACC.

2. Alex Mitchell, Linebacker, UT-Chattanooga Mocs

Mitchell follows much of the same career pattern that Jones does, except this will be his first time entering the transfer portal. Mitchell has a combined 178 total tackles over the last two seasons for the Mocs, and added two interceptions in the 2024 season. He would come into the season for his senior season, so adding in a veteran presence would do wonders for the Yellow Jackets defense.

3. Nahji Logan, Linebacker, Indiana Hoosiers

The last person that I want to highlight that the Yellow Jackets should pursue is Nahji Logan, a fifth-year senior that could, just like Mitchell, provide a veteran leadership role for the team next season. Logan played his first four years at UMass, before transferring to the Hoosiers last season. Although he didn't have playing time with the Hoosiers this season, he still has one year of eligibility left and his speed for someone that is 6'3" is unreal as a raw prospect heading into Power 4 football.
