Two running backs that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets should seek in Spring portal

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will come into next season among some of the top teams in the country when it comes to returning production, as seemingly every major contributor aside from Eric Singleton Jr. However, that does not mean that the Yellow Jackets could not use an extra depth player on the roster, especially in the offensive backfield. Here are two running backs that I think the Yellow Jackets should keep their eyes on in the Spring transfer portal.

The first is Jordon Simmons, who spent the first four season of his collegiate career with the Michigan State Spartans, where he would battle for his carries, but never was able to fully breakthrough the depth chart to become the lead back for the Spartans. However, Simmons would prove himself last season with the Akron Zips, where he would lead the team with 664 yards. While Simmons only had two rushing touchdowns, he was still an effective runner and consistent.

The second option that I want to highlight is former UNLV Runnin' Rebels running back Greg Burrell, who will be a sophomore with which ever team he chooses to go to. This is important, as the Yellow Jackets should be looking at at least one lower classman running back to fill a void after this season when Jamal Haynes enters the NFL Draft next year. Burrell had 366 yards on the ground last season for the Runnin' Rebels and averaged 5.6 yards per carry, so he proved that he could be productive.
