The 2025 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball season will go down as one of the most historic in team history, especially for the batting lineup. The emergence of ACC Freshman of the Year Alex Hernandez top MLB Draft prospect Drew Burress dominating at times, and Kyle Lodise becoming one of the best shortstops in the entire country have been the biggest headlines for the team for quite some time now. However, one player in the lineup has been having a great season and fell through the cracks a bit: catcher Vahn Lackey.

Lackey has been one of the most consistent players for the Yellow Jackets throughout the season, and in a lineup that can sometimes lack consistency, it has been one of the best traits that Lackey could have brought to the team.

Lackey was named as one of the sixteen semifinalists for the Buster Posey Award, which is given to the nation''s top college catcher.

Lackey has quietly put together quite the season, as he is currently second on the team in batting average, sitting at .349, and is one of only two players on the team to start in all 57 games that the team has played this season, joining Burress.

The significant playing times has Lackey just one hit behind Burress for the team lead in hits this season. Although Lackey did not get much extra baseball hits, totaling 19 extra baseball hits, 5 of which were home runs. Lackey would also add in 38 rbi on the season.

The finalists for the award will be announced on June 5.
