With some NBA players not knowing where they will be playing next season, it is relieving for those that are still under contract for next season, and one of those players is former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets guard Jose Alvarado.

Alvarado came into the league as an undrafted free agent in the 2021 NBA Draft and quickly got picked up by the New Orleans Pelicans for his shifty defense and ability to pull the troops together on the defensive side of the ball as a leader.

He has been with the Pelicans ever since, with the team thinking highly of the four-year NBA veteran, as is evident by his minutes played increasing to 24.4 last season, having him appear in 56 games and starting in 23 of those games, despite dealing with a hamstring injury two weeks after the season started that sidelined him for two months.

Alvarado would come back better than ever, as he averaged a career best 10.3 points per game. Alvarado did much more than score though, as the guard would also showcase his skills as a facilitator of the offense, putting up a career high in assists as well, averaging 4.6 per game.

Alvarado is currently on a very team friendly deal that has him making 4.5 million dollars in 2025, but his contract will be up at the end of the season, and it is up in the air how much Alvarado will want and if the Pelicans will want to offer him that much.
