For the third season in a row, the ACC-SEC Challenge will be taking place, a challenge that will feature every ACC team face off in a matchup against and SEC team. Yesterday, the matchups for each team were announced, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have one of the more intriguing matchups of the challenge, as they will face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
This will be the second time since the inaugural ACC-SEC Challenge in the 2023 season that the two teams will be facing off in the challenge, with the Yellow Jackets coming out on top of the Bulldogs 67-59 in Atlanta.
This year’s contest will again take place on the Yellow Jackets home court, McCamish Pavillion, on either Dec. 2 or 3, depending on the remaining schedules for the two teams.
The only other team that the Yellow Jackets have played in the ACC-SEC Challenge is the Oklahoma Sooners, who the Yellow Jackets lost to the Sooners, 76-61.
The SEC dominated the ACC-SEC Challenge last season, winning 14 of the 16 games, with the Duke Blue Devils and Clemson Tigers being the two teams that won their matchup for the ACC last season.
The Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs did not meet at all last season.
The announcement comes as the Yellow Jackets are starting to find out the bulk of their schedule, with them finding out their conference schedule two weeks ago, along with the announcement that they will face their in-state rival Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 14.
