It has been two and a half weeks since former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball star Jose Alvarado has returned from injury for the New Orleans Pelicans. The former 2021 All-ACC defensive team selection hasn't quite yet returned to his former self from earlier this season.
Before Alvarado went down with a hamstring injury in the Pelicans 107-105 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, he was having a personal-best season with the team, scoring at least 12 points in five games of a six game stretch. That stretch also included his second-highest points total in a game in his NBA career, a 27-point outing in the Pelicans 131-122 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Since coming back from injury, Alvarado has been inconsistent to say the least. He has only scored in double figures four times in ten games back, and is averaging 8.8 points per game. This includes his game last night, where he went 1-5 from the field, all from beyond the arc, which resulted in him only putting up three points in the team's 123-119 win over the Utah Jazz.
Alvarado's minutes since he's come back from injury has been reduced as he gets fully healed from it, playing a much smaller role with the team than he was, mainly coming off the bench for point guard Daniel Theis. Alvarado has yet to return to the starting lineup since returning.
You can catch Alvarado and the Pelicans back in action tomorrow night, as they host the Milwaukee Bucks at 8pm Eastern time.
