Former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets basketball guard Jose Alvarado came back last Friday from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for nearly two months, and while he didn't do much in his first two games back, the sixth-year NBA veteran had his best offensive game since coming back, scoring 13 points for the New Orleans Pelicans in the team's 104-97 loss last night.
Alvarado missed a total of 23 games after getting injured, and was a consistent starter for the team before the injury, starting in six straight games before his season was halted.
In his first two games back from injury, Alvarado scored a grand total of eight points combined, but was able to make his presence known on the defensive end in the team's 132-120 win, accumulating three steals in just 20 minutes of playing time.
Alverado's 13 points was higher than his 9.9 points per game average this season, and was the sixth time that scored at least ten points this season. From beyond the arc, Alvarado made three of his eight shots, making it the fourth game this season that he has made at least three 3-point shots in a game.
Also in the contest, Alvarado added a steal, an assist, and a rebound.
Alvarado and the Pelicans don't have a lot to cheer for this season yet, as the team sits at 7-30, but the good news is that two of those wins have come in the past three games, and they have a favorable matchup against the 12-23 Portland Trail Blazers tonight, as Alvarado could make his return to the starting lineup. Tip off for that game is set at 8pm Eastern time.
