While many fans could have circled the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets matchup against the Mercer Bears this week as a definite win for the Yellow Jackets, it may not come as easy as fans might think, as the Bears are no slouch opponent.
The Bears are 19-10 this season, and while it may be easy to just say that they are in the Southern Conference and look the other way at those wins, the Bears have one win on their schedule that should raise some eyebrows: a game on March 15, just two weeks ago, against the Florida State Seminoles.
You may be thinking that surely the now-No.4 team in the country actually lost to the Bears by a score of 5-3. The Bears could very well do it again against the Yellow Jackets if they are not careful and play down to their opponent.
That game also came on the road, so another thing in common for the matchup that matches the one against the Seminoles.
The Yellow Jackets, I feel, have established themselves as one of the top teams in the ACC over the past two weeks, as a weekend sweep over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and a competitive series with No.6 ranked Clemson has put the Yellow Jackets in the D1Baseball Top 25.
I think the Yellow Jackets walk away with a victory, but make no mistake about it, the Bears will be no slouch in all of it, and the Yellow Jackets can not afford to think that this game will be an easy win.
