Georgia Tech Basketball: Yellow Jackets are 0-3 in ACC Play After Loss to Wake Forest
“Georgia Tech” will be the answer to the trivia question, “Who did Danny Manning get his first ACC win against as coach of Wake Forest?”.

The Demon Deacons (9-8, 1-3 ACC) simply would not let the Yellow Jackets (9-6, 0-3 ACC) get over the hump when Tech closed in on their lead, and won the game 76-69.
In the first half, the pace did not favor either team, with half-court execution determining who was going to have the advantage.
Wake Forest was able to grab some control of the game when they opened up an eight point lead at 32-24 with 3:13 left in the game.
Tech shrunk the gap to five at 34-29 which was the margin going into the locker room.
Wake Forest was able to make it difficult for Georgia Tech to make entry passes inside the paint, but Tech still did a good job of shooting, knocking down 48% of their field goals.
Tech was outrebounded in the first half 18-15, and was even 8-8 in offensive rebounding.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets would close the gap, and simply could not get over the hump.
Tech closed to within 51-49 of Wake Forest, but the Demon Deacons stretched the lead back out to 63-53 with 6:17 left in the game.
Georgia Tech was able to close the gap once again with a 7-0 run to make the score 63-60 with 4:46 left in the game.

Even with that run, Wake Forest was able to hold off the Yellow Jackets from getting over the hump and extended their lead from the free throw line.
Wake Forest did not make a single field goal since a three-point field goal by Cornelius Hudson at the 6:17 mark in the game.
The flagrant one call on Charles Mitchell with 1:43 left on the clock did not help matters. The Deacons were able to extend their lead back to nine points at 71-62.
Wake Forest continued to close out the game from the free throw line to take the 76-69 win.
Marcus Georges-Hunt played strong with 16 points and six rebounds.
Quinton Stephens dropped 10 points on the ledger while Demarco Cox added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Charles Mitchell finished with 12 points and four boards.
Wake Forest also finished with four players in double-figures Devin Thomas led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Mitchell Wilbekin added 14 points, Darius Leonard finished with 13 points and Cornelius Hudson dropped 11 points on the stat sheet.
The Demon Deacons shot 50% from the field for the game, and hit 7 of 19 three-pointers.
They also beat Georgia Tech on the glass 39-29 for the game.

To sum things up, Wake Forest handed the Yellow Jackets their most thorough loss of the season, and now Georgia Tech is in the midst of their first three game losing streak of the year.
Coach Gregory is about to find out what his team is made of in the next week. The Jackets are going to have to fight to get out of this rut.
Things are not going to get any easier for the Jackets as they go back home to McCamish Pavilion to take on Notre Dame on Wednesday January 14th.
