While playing at Greater Atlanta Christian, Tyler played tight end and inside linebacker for three seasons.
In his senior year, he racked up 91 tackles, six sacks, and had 12 tackles for loss. He also returned an interception for a touchdown.
Those stats helped guide Greater Atlanta Christian to a 14-1 record, a regional championship, and a state title runner up in 2014.
He was named Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 75 for 2015, first-team All-Region 6-2A, and second-team All-State in his senior year.
In 2013 and 2014 Cooksey was named to the Gwinnett Honor Roll by the Gwinnett Daily Post.
