The Georgia Tech basketball program came in at 45th all-time in a recently released list of top-100 programs of all-time.

The Associated Press released their top-100 programs on Tuesday and the Georgia Tech basketball program is ranked 45th out of the top-100 according to the results. The rankings were made by giving each program one point for each week they were ranked in the AP Top 25 and two points for each time the program was ranked number one.

Georgia Tech’s resume:

The Yellow Jackets have quite the resume over the course of the AP poll. According to sports-reference.com, the Yellow Jackets have been ranked a total of 211 weeks over the course of the poll’s history.

Out of those 211 weeks that the Yellow Jackets were ranked in the preseason poll 14 times and the final poll 8 times. In the history of the program, the Jackets have only reached a number one ranking once that being in the 1985-86 preseason poll. The Jacketes would lose their first game of the season to Michigan and would fall to the second spot in the following week.

That being said, the Jackets were in the Big Ten throughout the entire season not dropping lower than seven. Georgia Tech has not appeared in an AP Poll since 2009-2010 when they were ranked 20th in the 14th poll of the season.

The top five:

Kentucky – 1,111

North Carolina – 1,098

Duke – 1,032

UCLA – 957

Kansas – 857

The top five doesn’t present any surprises outside UCLA not being in the top three.

Despite winning 11 NCAA championships, the most of any program, the AP only took in account

appearances in the AP Top 25 and appearances as the number one team in the nation.  The Bruins have also been ranked first the most in NCAA history with a total of 134 times.
