A five-run four thinning did in the Yellow Jackets on Friday night in their 11-6 loss to Clemson. Freshman Xavion Curry got through the first three innings rather unscathed, allowing just one run. In the fourth, however, the Tigers took advantage of three of Curry’s five walks with five singles.

The Jackets would try to claw back into the game including a sixth inning Cameron Poje home run but Clemson’s 2 runs in the sixth and three runs in the ninth would put the game out of reach. Offensively, freshman Austin Wilhite was the Yellow Jackets top performer, reaching base three times in four plate appearances.

First baseman Kel Johnson and Ryan Peurifoy also contributed during the game on Saturday hitting a solo and two-run homerun respectively.

Game 27:

Recap:

The Clemson bats returned to action on Sunday following a quite Saturday performance. Yellow Jackets starter Ben Schniederjans wasn’t able to get past the second inning allowing six runs on four hits and three walks.

Three Clemson home runs in the second inning including a grand slam put Georgia Tech in a 10-1 hole that they would never get out of. Offensively, the Jackets would struggle to score in the first seven innings before bursting out for a four-run eighth inning.

Cameron Poje and Wade Bailey would both double in the inning. Bailey’s double down the left field line scored three runs.

One bright side in the 13-6 loss was following Robert Winborne and Andy Archer allowing seven of 13 runs over two innings of work the bullpen was strong. Six Yellow Jacket relievers pitched against the Tigers on Sunday allowing five hits over six shutout innings.
