Georgia Tech Basketball: Forward Christian Matthews set to transfer
Georgia Tech freshman forward Christian Matthew has been granted his release from the program and will be transferring according to reports.
Georgia Tech freshman forward Christian Matthews will be leaving the program according to the Georgia Tech’s official sports site.
Matthews, a Maryland native was a member of Georgia Tech’s 2016 recruiting class and was considered a three-star prospect. Matthews committed to the Yellow Jackets on August 23rd, 2015.

Through RamblinWreck.com, Josh Pastner commented on Matthews’ transfer with the following statement;
"“Christian was an integral part of our depth for a good portion of last season, but we support his decision and want him to do what is best for him and his future,” said Pastner."
Over this past season, Matthews saw time in 15 games but didn’t see action in the last 12 games of the season. Over his 15 games, Matthews averaged 3.4 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.3 assists. His best game of the season came against Division II opponent Tusculum when he played 21 minutes and scored 12 points while bringing down 4 rebounds. He also dropped a career high 14 points against Tennessee in early December.
The 6-7 freshman from Clinton, Md., played in 15 games in 2016-17, averaging 3.4 points and 7.3 minutes per game. He attended National Christian Academy in Washington, D.C.
