Georgia Tech Baseball: Schniederjans masterful in 7-0 win over Georgia State
Junior pitcher Ben Schniederjans was masterful in Wednesday night’s game against Georgia State help to lead the Jackets to a 7-0 victory.
For most of Wednesday night’s game between Georgia Tech (18-18) and Georgia State (13-23), it was a pitching duel. Georgia Tech right-hander Ben Schniederjans and Georgia State righthander Bryan White exchanged scoreless innings through the first five innings.

Schniederjans turned in one of his best outings of the year pitching seven shutout innings for the Jackets. In his seven innings of work, Schniederjans allowed just three base runners, all through hits, and struck out four. Head coach Danny Hall called Schniederjans performance on Wednesday “the best performance since he’s been here” during a post-game interview.
Once Schniederjans was lifted from the game after seven innings, both Keyton Gibson and Micah Carpenter pitched shutout innings to close the door for the Jackets.
White pitched a pretty strong game for Georgia State as well, pitching five shutout innings. In his five innings, White allowed three base hits and three walks but never got in any real danger, keeping the Jackets’ bats at bay.

Tech bats wake up after a slow start:
Once Georgia State head coach Greg Frady took out White, the Jackets offense was able to cash in on some Georgia State pitching miscues. After Ryan Peurifoy and Wade Bailey walked, Trevor Craport was hit by a pitch. That left the bases loaded for Joey Bart, who gave the Jackets a 4-0 lead with one swing of the bat. The grand slam would be Bart’s 12th home run of the year while his RBI total rose to 37.
The four runs were all the Jackets would get in the seventh, all coming on just the one hit. After a scoreless eighth inning, the Jackets would add three more insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Two of those insurance runs would come on a Coleman Poje two-run blast that put the Jackets up 7-0.
The 7-0 victory for the Yellow Jackets moves them back to .500 with an 18-18 record after winning back-to-back games. The Yellow Jackets will now travel to Blacksburg, Virginia to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a pivotal three-game series. If the Jackets hope to salvage their season, winning two of three this upcoming weekend is a must.
