Wake Forest vs Georgia Tech

Bobby Dodd Stadium | Atlanta, GA
7:30 p.m. EST | ESPNU
All-time Series: 22-8-0
Last meeting: Georgia Tech 24, Wake Forest 20 in 2010

From this point on, Georgia Tech football has no room for error. With two losses including an ACC Coastal loss to Miami, the Jackets must win out if they hope to win the ACC and albeit a longshot at this point, a potential College Football Playoff berth.

On Saturday night, the Yellow Jackets will take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The matchup between the two ACC foes will be their first since 2010 and the first one in Atlanta since 2009.

Since the turn of the century, the matchup has been all Yellow Jackets with the Jackets winning six of eight games, the Deacons haven’t won in Atlanta since 2002. Wake Forest did win the most important matchup ever as they won the 2006 ACC Championship 9-6.

Wake Forest enters Saturday’s matchup 4-2 and is coming off back-to-back losses and a bye week. After a quick 4-0 start, the Deacons have stumbled against Florida State and Clemson. The Yellow Jackets are just another roadstop in an extremely tough schedule for the Deacons. Louisville, Notre Dame, and NC State are still left on their schedule.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off their second, one-point loss of the season, 25-24 to Miami. The Jackets who enter the game 3-2 are just a few plays and two minutes away from being 5-0. With no room for error, the Jackets must play their best football from here on out.

    Odds (Georgia Tech: -4 )

When the odds first came out last Sunday, the Yellow Jackets were 8.5 point favorites. Now, they are just four-point favorites. Saturday’s game marks the fourth time the Jackets have been favorites this season, they won each of the three previous games. The Jackets are also 5-0 against the spread this season.

That being said, the money so far has been on Wake Forest to cover. Which is expected considering the Deacons strong defense and improved offense. The Deacons so far this season have been underdogs in two games this season and both games ended up in losses. The Deacons are 3-1-1 against the spread.

Of the teams combined 11 games this season, seven of those games have gone under the total. Saturday’s total of 47.5 is a rather low total, the lowest of the Jackets season so far. Each of Georgia Tech’s last four games has resulted in the total going under.
