The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets got win No.1 under their belt last weekend against Florida State in a 16-13 come from behind victory. True freshman Jeff Sims put together a tremendous performance in his first ever start and looks like a future potential star for the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets defense started off a bit slow but were able to get their feet under them after the first quarter and for the most part, shut down Florida State’s offense in the second half but through the air and on the ground.

Their opponent on Saturday will be a bit tougher. As the UCF Golden Knights, who have gone 35-4 over the last three seasons come to Atlanta for the Jackets home opener (and UCF’s season opener). It will be the fourth all-time matchup between the two programs, with the Yellow Jackets winning each of the last three matchups. It will be the first matchup on Saturday between the two programs since the 2000 season. It’s also worth noting that Geoff Collins has coached against UCF, facing them twice during his time with the Temple Owls. The Owls lost both of those matchups.

Entering Saturday, the Yellow Jackets are 7.5-point underdogs to the Knights, marking the second straight week the Jackets as an underdog of a touchdown or more. Last week, the Yellow Jackets entered the game as nearly two touchdown underdogs prior to their upset of Florida State.
