With basketball season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ending last week in a. 81-64 loss to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, there were looming questions by fans, such as myself, as to what direction some of the players would go heading into next season. I thought for sure that fans would not get an update or decision by players for a few days, however, the first player has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal, and that player is sophomore guard Naithan George.
George had been a reliable piece to the Yellow Jackets team over the past two seasons, and with the program changing, that included the hiring of current head coach Damon Stoudamire. George had been the one consistent over the past two seasons, and he played a crucial role in Stoudamire's offense.
George plays a more traditional style of point guard role, as he aims to be the facilitator of an offense and get assists, which is something that he did better than anyone in the ACC last season, as he lead the conference in assists per game, averaging 6.5 per game.
However, one thing that started to change for George this season is his ability to score, especially in the second half of the season. George put up a six game stretch this season where he scored at least 20 points in five of those six games.
George will probably garner lots of attention, as any team would be happy to have a player that can facilitate an offense the way George can.
