With the season on the line for the Georgia Tech men's basketball team, the team was looking for a player to step up when it mattered, and Naithan George took that task and ran with it, leading to a 66-60 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers.
George came into the first round of the ACC tournament leading the conference in assists, and assists per game this season, averaging 6.5 per game. He would be used as a facilitator for the offense throughout the season, and he put together one of the most brilliant performances from a men's Georgia Tech player in recent memory, as he would score 13 points, grab 10 rebounds, and finish with eight assists, nearly putting up a triple double in the Yellow Jackets win.
In the first half, George would accumulate just two points and three assists, but in the second half, when the Yellow Jackets needed a player to score points, they turned to George.
George would score 11 points in the second half and dish out five assists, enough for him to put up a double double, but he would also get a season-high ten rebounds along the way to nearly put up a triple double.
Going up against the top-ranked defense in the ACC, George put together the performance of a lifetime to keep the Yellow Jackets season alive.
Up next for the Yellow Jackets will be a game today, as they take on the top-ranked team in the ACC Tournament in the Duke Blue Devils at Noon Eastern time.
