The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets took the court for the final time in the regular season today, as they came into their matchup against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons with at least a little hope that they could gain some momentum before the ACC tournament. However, what followed, was the Yellow Jackets getting routed, 69-43.
I expected the Demon Deacons to win the game, but to put up the worst offensive showing of the season was something that I or no Georgia Tech fan could expect.
The shooting for the Yellow Jackets was downright miserable, as they would go through a seven minute stretch in the first half where they only score one point, and only scored five points in the final 13:23 of the half, putting themselves down 34-15 going into halftime.
The second half would see the Yellow Jackets find their footing a little, but by time they actually started making shots, the game was already out of hand.
The starters for the Yellow Jackets shot a combined 12-43 in the game, something that to me was a performance that the team and head coach Damon Stoudamire should be ashamed of heading into the ACC tournament.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets made just three of their 23 3-point attempts, with Lance Terry, Naithan George, and Jaeden Mustaf all making one a piece.
The Yellow Jackets offense will need to find a spark on the offensive end if they stand a chance in the ACC Tournament next week.
