The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have landed their first commit from the transfer portal this offseason, as defensive back Daiquan White chose the Yellow Jackets as the team he wants to continue his playing career with the Yellow Jackets.

White will transfer in as a junior, spending the last two seasons on the Eastern Michigan Eagles. White, a native Georgian from Fairburn, where he played high school football at Creekside High School. He was ranked as a three-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, getting offers from 29 schools, including one from the Yellow Jackets.

White has played in every game for the Eagles since he committed to the team, combining for 50 tackles over the past two seasons and 18 passes defended. At 5’10, White could be seen as undersized for his position, but he makes up for that by having a tremendous amount of speed.

The move comes at a pivotal time for the Yellow Jacket secondary, as they are looking for help where they can in the position group. The Yellow Jackets are losing safety LaMile Brooks to graduation, and cornerback Tate Seymore to the transfer portal, leaving the Yellow Jackets needing depth at the position for next season. Both Seymore and Brooks played crucial roles in the secondary this season, with Seymore tallying 45 total tackles this season, and Brooks playing eight games for the Yellow Jackets this season.

With the need of a veteran presence, White could provide the Yellow Jackets with help in filling that role next season.
