To say that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball's 14-0 start to the season is something that came out of no where would be an understatement, but the team has emerged as one of the top teams in all of college basketball in head coach Nell Fortner's sixth season with the team. There have been many players step up in new roles for the team, but perhaps the biggest contributor to the Yellow Jackets success is the play of freshman guard Dani Carnegie.

Carnegie was rated as the No.29 ranked player in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and chose to take her talents to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. It was expected that the freshman would eventually get as good as she is now at some point during her college career, but Yellow Jacket fans have been thrown back by just how fast Carnegie got to this level. She leads the steam in scoring, averaging 15 points per game, but she has also emerged as a crucial rebounder for the Yellow Jackets, averaging 5.3 rebounds per game this season.

As of recently, Carnegie has been playing as well as any freshman in the country, earning her third straight ACC Player of the Week. In the three week span, Carnegie has averaged 17.4 points per game, but her ability to step up in big games for the Yellow Jackets has been what has presumably put her over the rest. The Yellow Jackets have beaten two ranked teams in those four weeks, Nebraska and North Carolina, and Carnegie came up big in both, averaging 21 points while also averaging 8.5 rebounds in those two games.

Fom the way it looks, Carnegie is going to be a huge contributor for the rest of the season and her time with the Yellow Jackets as a whole.
