All has been said, and all has been done for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets guard Lance Terry, who celebrated two seasons with the Yellow Jackets, the 2022-3 season and the 2024-5 season. Terry became a fan favorite in his first season at the Flats, and he would continue that on into this past season.
Terry would transfer to the Yellow Jackets from Gardner-Webb after three seasons with the Bulldogs, trying to find his role with a team. The Yellow Jackets were in what-would-be former head coach Josh Pastnor's last season, and he needed a guard with experience, so Terry would join the team.
In his first season with the Yellow Jackets, Terry would average 10.1 points per game, solidifying himself as on okay second scoring option, as he was second on the team that season in points per game.
He would play a big role in the Yellow Jackets second round win over the Florida State Seminoles last season, scoring nine points, and he would score at least ten points in 13 games for the team last season. Those performances included a career-high 24 points in an upset of the then-No. 12 ranked Miami Hurricanes.
This season, Terry would prove that he could be a leading scorer on a team, as he would do just that, averaging a team-high 14.5 points per game. In 21 games this season, Terry would put up at least 13 points, including a new career-high on Senior Night, where he put up 31 points. Those performances include a 23-point outing against the then-No. 21 ranked Louisville Cardinals and a double double in the Yellow Jackets triple overtime win against the Clemson Tigers.
As someone that has admired consistency wherever I go, I think that Lance Terry will ultimately be remembered as a player that was consistent on a team that was young and needed veteran leadership. He may not be up there with Mark Price, Kenny Anderson, Chris Bosh, or Stephon Marbury, but the contributions that Terry has had on the program during a coaching change is something that should not be ignored.
