The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have added another piece to the team from the transfer portal, this time from edge rusher Brayden Manley.
Manley comes to the Yellow Jackets from the Mercer Bears, where he has seen significant playing time, playing in 12 games his freshman season and every game for the Bears this season. Not only did he just play in every game for the Bears this season, but he was productive as well, leading the team with 9.5 sacks, which also would have led the Yellow Jackets this season as well. Manley also added in 38 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two passes defended. He was one of the most highly touted FCS defensive players in this transfer portal cycle.
Manley could come to the Yellow Jackets and start almost immediately, or at least make an impact, as head coach Brent Key and defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci have been searching the transfer portal for a player that could replace Romello Height, who left the Yellow Jackets in favor of the transfer portal, and Kevin Harris, who is graduating, on the edge as pass rushers.
At 6’2” 235 pounds, Manley can provide the Yellow Jackets with a unique combination of speed and strength that will help the Yellow Jackets get to the quarterback, something that the team struggled with last season, who ranked dead last in the ACC in sacks, totaling just 17 this season.
Manley will transfer as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining for the team.
