The Spring transfer portal opened less than a week ago, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key has started the first week of the portal opening off with a bang, landing former Colorado Buffaloes safety Savion Riley, but the team has also gotten another piece in the secondary, as they have now landed former Penn State Nittany Lions cornerback Jon Mitchell.

In his true freshman season with the Nittany Lions, Mitchell seen action in three games, combining for five total tackles, including two each in games against the Maryland Terrapins and Kent State Golden Flashes. With Mitchell only appearing in three games last season, he will maintain all four years of his eligibility with the Yellow Jackets.

Mitchell was a four-star recruit out of Jacksonville, FL before committing to the Nittany Lions.

One thing that Mitchell can bring over to the Yellow Jackets secondary is speed, given that he was a two-time district qualifier for the 100-meter dash in high school.

The addition on Mitchell could be a big pickup for the Yellow Jackets, as Mitchell has now been in a program that made the College Football Playoff and knows what the locker room looks like for that to be a possibility.

It is huge that Mitchell still has all four years of eligibility left, as the Yellow Jackets now have a player that could produce quickly and is young, so that means he could be a game changer for the Yellow Jackets for the next four years.
