The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would try to go 3-1 over the course of the weekend in their game today against the Marshall Thundering Herd, however it would be the Thundering Herd that would get the best of the Yellow Jackets and split the four-game series after a 12-8 victory.

Junior Caden Spivey would get the start for the Yellow Jackets on the mound, while freshman Kenyon Collins would get the start for the Thundering Herd. Neither pitcher would last long in the game, as Collins would get pulled after 1.1 innings worked, while Spivey would only pitch three innings.

The lineup for the Yellow Jackets got hot early in the contest, scoring four runs in the first two innings and taking a 4-0 lead early in the game.

The Yellow Jackets would try to put the Thundering Herd away in the bottom of the fifth inning by building up a 7-3 lead after a double by outfielder Drew Burress would bring home Kyle Lodise and Nathan Waugh.

However, the Thundering Herd would rally back behind three team home runs in the seventh and eighth innings that would score a total of five runs to build a 10-7 lead.

The Yellow Jackets would bring out a total of six pitchers over the last three innings of play, looking for someone that could get through an inning, but the Thundering Herd offense was too much for the Yellow Jackets pitching staff to handle.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday as they take on the West Georgia Wolves at home.
