After a stellar start to the season, many Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball and ACC fans were drawn to the performance of Dani Carnegie, a freshman guard for the Yellow Jackets. The second half of the season seen Carnegie slip in production, but alas, it would be enough for her to win the ACC Sixth Player of the Year award.

The start to the season by Carnegie is something that should have put the rest of the country on notice, as she would come out red hot, as she would score in double digits in ten of the first eleven games for the Yellow Jackets, cementing her place on the team. At one point this season, Carnegie had won for straight ACC Freshman of the Week awards.

Then, injury struck. Carnegie would go down with a leg injury in the Yellow Jackets first loss of the season against the Virginia Tech Hokies, and miss the next three games. She returned and put up a season-high 29 points against the Virginia Cavaliers in her first game back. However, Carnegie would then get into a shooting slump that moved her to the sixth person role.

Carnegie did well as the go-to bench option for the Yellow Jackets, as she would score in double digits in five of the team's last six game, still showing that she could be an effective player for the Yellow Jackets.

Carnegie is the first player to win the award since Zaire O'Neil won it in the 2017-18 season.
