The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team will try to do something that the team has not done since 2021, which is win an NCAA tournament game. But, to get the chance at a higher seed in the tournament, the team will need to have a strong performance in the ACC tournament, and that starts tomorrow, with a game against the Virginia Tech Hokies at 1:30pm Eastern time.
Not only would it be bittersweet for the Yellow Jackets to get a win over the team that gave the their first loss of the season after starting 15-0, but a triumphant victory would be something that the Yellow Jackets need more. Not only that, but a loss to the Yellow Jackets could knock the Hokies out of the NCAA Tournament completely, as they are listed in the latest ESPN bracketology as one of the fist four out, and the loss would for sure keep the Hokies out of the national tournament.
In the 2021 NCAA bracket, the Yellow Jackets were a five seed in the National Tournament, and walked out of the ACC tournament with a loss to NC State in the semifinals after being the three-seed in the ACC tournament.
The Yellow Jackets are the ninth seed in the ACC tournament, and a win against the Hokies would mean a game on Friday against the top-seeded NC State Wolfpack, a game that the Yellow Jackets could turn some heads if they were to win, and would jump significantly in the NCAA National Tournament later this month.
