ESPN writer Adam Rittenburg released an article today that had his list of his top 15 quarterbacks heading into 2025, and while there were obvious suitors on the list like Carson Beck, Drew Allar, and LaNorris Sellers, there was one name that people outside the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets program could have been surprised by: Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King.
King, in his junior season, submitted himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the country, as he led the Yellow Jacket to their most successful season in ten years, going 7-5 with a pair of ranked wins and a near program-changing win over their in-state rival, the Georgia Bulldogs.
King did miss full games against Virginia Tech and Notre Dame, and played as a last-resort quarterback in the Miami and NC State games due to injury. However, even with that missed time, King put up 2,114 yards and 14 touchdowns through the air and another 587 yards on the ground with 11 touchdowns.
It will be the third straight season that Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key will rely on King to take control of the offense, and with the upcoming schedule for the season, the Yellow Jackets have a much more favorable schedule than they had least season.
Ever since his arrival on campus, Yellow Jackets fans have seen King as a budding superstar with a lot of potential in an offense that was willing to give the keys to the right person, and it seems that the rest of the college football world has taken notice too.
