Coming into the season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were looking for someone that the pitching staff could consistently trust to put on the mound throughout the season if need be, and they have found just that in senior relief pitcher Mason Patel.

In his most recent outing yesterday against the Virginia Tech Hokies, Patel would come in with two outs in the fifth inning and pitch the rest of the game. Just how well did he pitch in relief for start Tate McKee? He would not allow a hit for the rest of the game, striking out two batters, and not allowing a single hit the rest of the game.

That performance has been up to par with how Patel has been doing this season, as he is establishing himself as not only one of the best relief pitchers for Georgia Tech, but for the entire ACC conference.

Patel has pitched 17 total innings this season and has not given up a run yet to go along with the fact that he has only allowed five hits in his five appearances. But perhaps the most impressive state from it all is that Patel has got credited with the win in all five of those appearances, making him 5-0 this season, the most wins that a pitcher has in Division 1 baseball this season.

With the ACC slate just starting for the Yellow Jackets, Patel will definitely be a name to keep an eye on for Georgia Tech baseball, and even in the NCAA, this season.
