Heading into the weekend series against the Clemson Tigers, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lineup was among the best in the entire college baseball landscape, as they were leading the ACC in doubles heading into the weekend. But how would they fair against one of the best teams in the country?
The Yellow Jackets would begin the weekend by putting up seven runs on the Tigers, although they would lose the game 9-7. In that game, five Yellow Jackets would get at least two hits, with one of those players being Kyle Lodise, who hit his tenth home run of the season.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets would put together an offensive explosion, as they would put up 18 runs for the second time this season, tying their season-high. The Yellow Jackets would get a seven inning run rule in the contest. In that game, seven Yellow Jackets players would wind up with multiple hits, with Lodise again putting together a monster performance, going 4-5 and having six RBIs in the 18-2 win.
The third game of the weekend was the worst for the lineup, as they would only put up three runs in the contest, but would still nearly come away with the victory, as they would lead 3-2 heading into the ninth inning. Drew Burress would be the only player in the lineup to have multiple hits in the game.
In all, the Yellow Jackets would have 45 hits in the series, 13 of which were extra base hits.
