Perhaps the area that the No.25 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets looked the most impressive was the mound, but not with the starting pitching, it has actually been the bullpen for the Yellow Jackets that has been a major reason why the team had had the success that they have had this season.

However, in their three game series against the No.6 ranked Clemson Tigers over the weekend, it was an area that the Yellow Jackets struggled at times.

In game one of the series, the Yellow Jackets fought back after allowing two runs in the first inning to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning. While starting pitcher Tate McKee did not have the best start, he did enough to keep the Tigers from running away with the game, and after five innings of work, was replaced by Mason Patel. Patel would pitch the final four innings, allowing four runs to score, and the Yellow Jackets could not keep up with the Tigers lineup, as they would lose 9-7.

In game two, the relief pitching really did not matter, as the Yellow Jackets would win the game 18-2 by way of run rule.

Game three, however, would see the Yellow Jackets use a combination of pitchers, but the Yellow Jackets were up 3-2 heading into the top of the ninth inning, but Yellow Jackets pitchers Brett Barfield and Caden Gaudette would allow two runs to score, and the Yellow Jackets would lose the game 4-3.
