The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team will travel to Louisville today to take on the Cardinals, as they look to bounce back from their first loss of the season, a double overtime 105-94 loss to ACC foe Virginia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets sit at 15-1 this season, the best start in program history, while the Cardinals come into the contest 11-5, riding a five-game winning streak.
There is perhaps no bigger story coming into the game than the status of Yellow Jackets guard Dani Carnegie, who went down with a hamstring injury in the third quarter of the team’s loss to Virginia Tech on Thursday. Carnegie has been pivotal for the Yellow Jackets success, as she is second on the team with 15.1 points scored per game. If Carnegie isn’t able to suit up for the Yellow Jackets or has a limited role today, Yellow Jacket fans can expect junior forward Kara Dunn to step up for the team in a big way, as she did against the Hokies when Carnegie went down, scoring 33 points and notching her fourth double-double of the season.
On the other side of the court, the Cardinals will look to Tajianna Roberts to continue her hot shooting streak, which has seen the freshman guard score in double digits in the team’s last five games and leads the team in points per game with 12.8 and steals per game with 1.9.
The tip off for the contest is set to be at 4pm Eastern time.
