At noon Eastern time today, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team will take the court to face the No.5 Duke Blue Devils at McCamish Pavilion. It will be the Yellow Jackets fourth ranked opponent of the season, as they’ve played the No.10 ranked Oregon Ducks, the No.14 Oklahoma Sooners, and the previously ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, losing all three of those contests.
The Yellow Jackets enter the game 5-6, coming off of a 91-82 win over the UMBC Retrievers, a much-needed win for the Yellow Jackets, as they entered the game on a three-game skid right before the nonconference schedule ended.
The Yellow Jackets will try to gain momentum as their ACC conference play comes to full swing after the matchup.
The Blue Devils head into the game trending upwards, as they’ve won their last five games, including giving the No.2 ranked Auburn Tigers their only loss of the season. Freshman Cooper Flagg has been the talk of the college basketball world, as he leads the Blue Devils in four of the five major stat categories this season: points, rebounds, assists, and blocks.
If the Yellow Jackets want to stay in the game throughout, then the team will have to try their best to keep the ball out of Flagg’s hands and make him a nonfactor, which is easier said than done. Turnovers will be a big area to look at for the Yellow Jackets as well, as they are committing an average of 11 turnovers per game this season.
