Three games that will determine the Yellow Jackets 2025 season

In the aftermath of a program-changing season last year, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2025 campaign will be one with something that the team has not been familiar with in recent seasons: expectations. And with expectations, the team now has a standard to live up to, which includes competing in games that could be otherwise looked at as automatic losses on the schedule. Here we take a look at some of those games that the Yellow Jackets will be circling for this upcoming season.

The first game that the Yellow Jackets should circle on the schedule is the game against the Virginia Tech Hokies, the team that the Yellow Jackets probably had their worst game against last season, losing 21-6. The Yellow Jackets host the team on Oct. 11 and coming off of a bye week, the game will be crucial to seeing how much the team has improved from last season.

The annual meeting between the Yellow Jackets and in-state rival Georgia Bulldogs will take place on Nov. 29, the second straight season that the game will be played on a Friday. With the two teams having arguably the best game of the college football season last year in an eight overtime affair, the meeting next season will have to live up to a lot as the Yellow Jackets look for their first win in the rivalry since 2016. If the Yellow Jackets want to take that next step as a program, this is one of the two games on the schedule to do it.

While some would argue that the game against the Bulldogs will be the biggest of the season, in my opinion, the biggest game for the Yellow Jackets happens on Sept. 13 when they host the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers won the ACC last season and made the College Football Playoff, and will be looking to do the same again next season. The Yellow Jackets could be a sneaky pick for the conference with the amount of returning production from last season, and a win here would be huge for the Yellow Jackets for two reasons: it’s a big time ACC matchup, so the Yellow Jackets will need to secure this win as a path to the ACC Championship, and it will be the hardest game on the schedule against an ACC opponent, so if they win this one, the majority of the ACC games left on the schedule will be favorable to the Yellow Jackets.
