The transfer portal is officially underway, and let the frenzy begin for some of the nation's highest-rated players and prospects looking to move on to bigger and better opportunities. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets secondary will need some bolstering up after this season, so why not look into some of what the transfer portal has to offer? Here are three players the Yellow Jackets and head coach Brent Key should look at for secondary pieces next season.

1. Jahlil Hurley, Cornerback, Alabama Crimson Tide

As a prospect, Hurley was the No.6 overall cornerback in the 2024 recruiting cycle, who entered the transfer portal after only seeing game time in one game this season for the Crimson Tide. The 6'2", 185-pound corner could possibly start for the Yellow Jackets next season at least in the nickelback position. The Yellow Jackets get a good prospect here, and Hurley gets the playing time that he wants.

2. Jordan Matthews, Cornerback, Tennessee Volunteers

Much like Hurley, Matthews entered the transfer portal presumably because of playing time, as he only appeared in two games for the Volunteers this season. At 6'2" 182-pounds, Matthews is a freak athlete that can contest jump balls in the end zone using hi height and physicality to wave off defenders, as well as playing closer to the line of scrimmage to help in run defense using his large frame.

3. Caleb Weaver, Safety, Sam Houston State Bearkats

Unlike the other two, Weaver had found a home for the past three seasons with the Bearkats before deciding to enter the transfer portal earlier this week. He has started all 23 games for the Bearkats the past two seasons, as he led the team with 86 total tackles this past season and has four interceptions. For a team that will have a young secondary after next season, the Yellow Jackets could use Weaver's veteran presence.
