Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets guard Tonie Morgan put up one of the best stat lines in program history last night, as the junior put on a clinic in the team's 89-65 victory over the Clemson Tigers.
Morgan finished the contest with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists. It is the first triple double in 23 years for the program, and it could not have come at a better time for the team, as they were looking for some momentum to build on to keep their expectations for the season on track, as they had lost their last three games after starting the season 15-0. The last player to record a triple double for the team was Milli Martinez, who put one up against Robert Morris on Feb. 23, 2002.
In total, Morgan would dish out assists to six different Yellow Jackets players: Kara Dunn, Kayla Blackshear, Tianna Thompson, Zoesha Smith, Chazadi Wright, and Rusne Augustinaite. In total in the contest, there would be six Yellow Jackets finish in double digits in points, including Morgan.
There has been multiple jaw-dropping stat lines that Morgan has put up in her time with the Yellow Jackets, but this was her first triple double with the team, so it will presumably hold a special place with her.
It has been a season of milestones for Morgan, as she became the 35th player in program history to reach the 1,000 points milestone on Jan. 9.
You can check out Morgan and the rest of the Yellow Jackets women's basketball team on Thursday, as they travel to take on the Virginia Cavaliers.
