The college athletics landscape is something that is forever changing, with players choosing whether they want to remain at the school that they are currently at, or if they want to transfer out to grasses that may seem greener. A player that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets should put the most attention to in that aspect is junior Tonie Morgan.
Morgan has been a consistent contributor for the Yellow Jackets since arriving at the Flats three years ago. She averaged 9.8 points her freshman season, then exploded onto the scene in her sophomore season, as she would average 15.6 points per game, then seen her points dip down to 13.7 last season.
Despite the points drop off, Morgan had what I would say is her best season of the three last season. She led the team in assists per game with 5.6. On top of that, Morgan grabbed 4.5 rebounds per game, solidifying herself as an all-around player. Morgan also became the first Georgia Tech player in 22 seasons to put up a triple double.
The Yellow Jackets did have tremendous success last season, and if they want that to translate to another successful campaign next season, then the Yellow Jackets will reasonably want to bring back as much production as they can, which would involve bring Morgan back next season.
With Morgan, the Yellow Jackets could be a real threat to some of the top teams in women's basketball, as they would have the firepower to compete with anyone in the country, but it starts with maintaining players that helped build that success last season.
