With their regular season over, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and their fans have a guaranteed lock in the tournament, and it looks as if they are locked in the eighth seed in it, as they could not move up past the Stanford Cardinal in the standings after losing to Wake Forest 69-43 earlier today.

The Yellow Jackets sit at 10-10 in the conference, one game behind the Cardinal and the Virginia Cavaliers are a game and a half behind the Yellow Jackets, meaning that the eighth seed is confirmed for the Yellow Jackets.

This would put the Yellow Jackets playing the Virginia Cavaliers in the second round of the tournament, with the winner playing either the Duke Blue Devils or the Louisville Cardinals in the quarterfinals, depending on how the Blue Devils perform against the North Carolina Tar Heels tonight. If the Blue Devils win, they get the top seed, and if the Blue Devils lose, the Cardinals would get the top seed.

The Yellow Jackets lost to the Blue Devils 82-56 on Dec. 21, while they defeated the then-No.21 ranked Cardinals 77-70 on Feb. 1.

However, the Yellow Jackets focus should move over to how they can get past the Virginia Cavaliers in the second round of the tournament, a team that the Yellow Jackets lost to 75-61 on Feb. 8.

An eight seed in the bracket will be the highest that the Yellow Jackets will have in the tournament since 2021, when the won the ACC tournament.
