With the departure of Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets guard Lance Terry, the team is now faced with the reality that they will need to fill a hole in the starting lineup for next season, so who could get their number called for that spot?
Perhaps the favorite for the spot would be senior Kowacie Reeves Jr, but the team will have to see if Reeves will be able to return to the team next season, as he will have to be granted a medical waiver for missing 24 of the Yellow Jackets 34 games last season. When Reeves Jr was on the court for the Yellow Jackets for the 2023-24 season, he was a key contributor, as he averaged 9.8 points per game. Before his injury, Reeves Jr was averaging 9.3 points, including at least 15 points in the first three games of the season.
Another option for the Yellow Jackets that could very well take the spot is Jaeden Mustaf, who subbed in a lot after the Yellow Jackets after they decided to move on from Javian McCollum, resulting in Mustaf playing a lot of meaningful minutes late in the season. Mustaf also scored at least ten points this season in 9 out of 15 games in which he played at least 25 minutes. Overall, Mustaf averaged 9.3 points per game this season.
As it stands, I think that these are the two clear cut favorites to take Terry's spot in the starting rotation, and I think that if Stoudamire wants to run three guards in a lineup for next season, Reeves Jr and Mustaf would be excellent choices.
