With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets season now over, it’s time to look into what the team could look like next season, and it will be very reliant on the eligibility of two players: senior guard Kowacie Reeves Jr and senior forward Luke O’Brien, who both will have to see if the NCAA grants them one more year of eligibility.
The two players appeared in just a combined 16 games this season, with Reeves Jr starting in all six of the games he appeared in, while O’Brien appeared in ten games and started six of those games.
Both players suffered injuries early in the season, so it could mean that they can be granted another year of eligibility due to injuries this season. They will both have to fill out the NCAA medical hardship waiver to see if they will be granted that extra year of eligibility.
It will be crucial for the Yellow Jackets next season if they are able to get that extra year, as they are looking for a spot in the starting lineup to replace their top scorer from last season, guard Lance Terry. If Reeves Jr is able to play, he will for sure be the favorite to take that spot in the starting lineup. O’Brien could see significant playing time as a bench player, as he would be my projected sixth man for the Yellow Jackets next season.
Reeves Jr has been battling a foot injury, while O’Brien has been dealing with a toe injury.
