New Orleans Pelicans guard and former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket basketball player Jose Alvarado hosted the Dallas Mavericks last night, with the Mavericks capturing a 136-135 win.

Alvarado's minutes took a dip in the third straight game for the Pelicans, as he played just 15 minutes for the team, but he made the most of the opportunity given to him, as he finished with 11 points, the most that he has scored in a game since he put up 19 against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 17. It is also the first game since then that Alvarado has put up a double digit point total.

Alvarado was used mainly as a perimeter weapon on the offensive end, as he made three of his four three-point attempts in the contest. To add on to his 11 points, Alvarado also put up three assists and one steal in the contest.

Since coming back from injury against the Washington Wizards on Jan. 3, Alvarado has been wildly inconsistent with minutes played and points scored, as he has played at least 20 minutes in six games since returning, and is averaging 18.7 minutes per game since his return. However, the four-year NBA veteran has only averaged 8.1 points points per game since his return. Alvarado has started one game since his return, playing 32 minutes and putting up just six points.

With the NBA season trade deadline approaching, there could be a few teams express interest in the former Yellow Jacket product as a role player.
