Drew Burress came into the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last game of their four-game series against the Marshall Thundering Herd with a lot of confidence, as he was coming off back-to-back stellar performances in the series in games two and three.
Burress would come to the plate for his first at-bat of the contest to get walked, but would eventually round the bases and cross home plate after a fielding error by the Thundering Herd.
In his second at-bat, the sophomore would hit a single to left field that would give him his first RBI of the season, as he would bring home shortstop Kyle Lodise to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-0 lead over the Thundering Herd.
In his third at-bat, Burress would fly out to center field.
However, it was his fourth at-bat of the game that would get the fans talking, as he would double to left field to bring in designated hitter Nathan Waugh and first baseman Kent Schmidt, even though Burress was thrown out trying to stretch the play into a triple. The runs would give the Yellow Jackets a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In his fifth and final at bat of the contest in the bottom of the eighth inning, Burress would strike out swinging.
Burress would finish the game 2-4 with a double, three RBI, a walk, and a run.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Wednesday, as they have one game against the West Georgia Wolves.
