With the season heating up, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are starting to get into their ACC portion of the schedule, and game two of the series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish would be one that the Yellow Jackets would need.
Brady Jones would get the start on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, his sixth start of the season. However, he would last just 2.1 innings, giving up three runs on four hits and getting five strikeouts before Yellow Jackets head coach Danny Hall would look to his best relief pitcher of the season, Mason Patel, to take over for the junior. Patel would have a spectacular performance against the Fighting Irish, as he would allow just four hits and one earned run, as he would pitch the rest of the game for the Yellow Jackets.
The batting order for the Yellow Jackets would get started early, as the team would hit four extra base hits in the second inning alone. Carson Kerce and Chase Daniel would both hit doubles, freshman Alex Hernandez would hit a triple, and Will Baker would hit his first home run of the season, as the Yellow Jackets would take a 5-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets would increase their lead to 7-3 in the fifth inning, followed by another two runs scoring in the sixth inning to make it 9-3.
The Fighting Irish would take their shot at a comeback attempt late, but the Yellow Jackets built up too big of a lead, and would get a big road win by a score of 9-5.
